Multidisciplinary Care for Optimal Results

At L.A. Pain & Wellness Institute (LAPWI), we provide state-of-the-art comprehensive chronic pain care from medication management to therapeutic interventional spine injections and even detoxification from opioid dependence. We can integrate these treatments with other disciplines in the practice – chiropractic care, acupuncture therapy, clinical biofeedback, etc. – to maximize your therapeutic outcome and improve your quality of life.

We have worked extensively with people with acute and chronic neck and low back pain, acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries as well as patients who have had surgery but continue to feel significant pain. Additionally, we perform physical medicine and rehabilitation for those who suffer life-altering changes as a result of a stroke, traumatic injury or debilitating disease.

After your initial consultation with our pain management doctors, we develop an individual chronic pain program that may encompass diet and nutrition, medication management and reviewing or initiating a therapeutic exercise program. Each treatment is designed for your specific needs.

Spinal Cord Stimulator for Chronic Pain Relief

A spinal cord stimulator (also known as a neurostimulator) is a device that is to provide relief from chronic pain. A compact electronic device is surgically implanted in the wall of the lower abdomen and connected by wire to a strip of electrodes placed next to the back of the spinal cord. The electronics supply low-voltage electrical pulses at the electrodes, which alter the pain signals in the spinal cord, providing partial or complete pain relief. The stimulators are programmable so that the signal can be adjusted for optimal pain relief after implantation.
